WHERE HOME BUILDING MEETS TECHNOLOGY

Thermal Shell Homes conducts systems engineering research to do the following:

Produce homes that use average, 50 up to 70% less energy. Integrate onsite power systems leading to “near zero” energy homes that will ultimately produce as much energy as they use. Implement innovative energy - and material - saving technologies.

By using a systems engineering approach to home building, Thermal Shell Homes unites segments of the building industry that traditionally work independently of one another. Thermal Shell Homes brings to gether a team of architects, engineers, material suppliers, contractor trades, and mortgage lenders.

Throughout the design process the team evaluates the interaction between the building site, envelope, mechanical system, and energy-use factors. Cost tradeoffs allow the team to incorporate energy-saving strategies at no extra cost.

The long term-goal of Thermal Shell Homes is to develop cost-effective systems for homes that can produce more energy than they use - a “Zero Energy Plus” Home.
