Government backed Power Saver loans help homeowners with energy-efficient retrofits

U.S. homeowners looking to increase the energy-efficiency of their homes now have access to low cost financing through the Power Saver loan program.  Secretary of Energy Steven Chu and Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Shaun Donovan announced the program in late April, which offers homeowners up to $25,000 in financing for energy-efficient improvements to existing homes.
Loans can be used for building envelope improvements such as adding insulation, windows, or air sealing, as well as equipment upgrades for HVAC and water heating.  Solar panels and geothermal heat pumps are also eligible upgrades under the Power Saver program.
